Rooted in the history and tradition of North Indian rāga performance, Doleo Æternus is an effort to create a completely modern composition defined in the same way as a rāga.
Emerging from the ether is an eternal single D. As the performance unfolds, the overtones and their relationships to this single D are explored fully and restructured live by the computer into an all-encompassing shimmering rhythmic drone full of melodies and possibility. The performers collaborate and improvise with intense concentration to call forth from this cacophony the purity at the core of Doleo Æternus.
